Paint Shop Pro Tutorial
Final Product
I'm gonna start this tutorial off with a preview of the final product so it may help you on some of the steps below. Click on the image to see the FULL preview.
![]() Step 1
First off go to View--> Toolbars. Then put the settings that the image shows on the right. This will get you the VITAL toolbars that help you work with PSP easier than before.
![]() Step 2
Now I'm going to explain the toolbar headers. First there is just the title of the toolbox. Then there is a little triangle pointing up
. When the triangle is pointing up it means the toolbox will stay open no matter what. Click on the triangle, it will flip over with a line appearing below . When you click this and there is a line below it, this saves your work space area. When you hover your mouse over the toolbar of the toolbox the toolbox will open, and when you take your mouse off the toolbox the toolbox will minimize by itself.![]() Step 3
Now go find the "Overview Window" and place it in the position as seen in the final product, somewhere in the top right hand corner and make sure the triangle is the triangle pointing down
.![]() Step 4
Find the "Tool Options" toolbox and find the "Layer Palette". Once you have found these position them as they are in the final product preview, roughly in the bottom right hand corner. Then make sure the triangles are pointing down.
![]() Step 5
So basically the overview window is if your really lazy to zoom out of your project just hover over the blue bar and an overview of the project will show. The "Tool Options" toolbox is probably the most important tool needed. When you choose different tools options to change them will be under this box. The "Layer Palette" is when you get into advance graphics this is an easy access to your layers and transparency levels of them.
Step 6
Now I will explain the "Web Toolbar" you should have added from step number 1. Position it on the left hand side of the workspace like shown in the final product screenshot.
Step 7
You will see the buttons with arrows on them and the words, JPEG, GIF, and PNG. These are very great tools. If you want to save an image as one of these just click on them and it will give you a window where you can play around with settings until you find what you like. Later on in another tutorial I will explain the functions of some of the options, but for now just play around with them you'll get it.
![]() Step 8
Now these two buttons are very intresting things that you may not have found if you haven't taken this tutorial. The top one is an IMAGE SLICER and the bottom is an IMAGE MAPPER! If you know how to use them then go right ahead and use them, if you don't a tutorial on how to work it will come out in the future so don't worry but play around with it and you'll get it.
![]() Step 9
Thats basically it you can just play around with the rest of the functions the toolbars have, there mainly just easy access buttons that you can get through menus too but easier to get to. Also remember to just move the toolbars around so they fit the final product.

Congratulations! You have successfully customised your workspace in PSP to give you the most efficent shortcuts and access to the most VITAL tools needed in graphic designing.
